The United States of America was founded upon the ideal of Freedom.
What is the origin of Freedom?
Adopted unanimously by the thirteen colonies July 4, 1776, the founders
of this country declared:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are
instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…”
The founders recognized that the freedom—the unalienable Rights were “endowed by their Creator.” Two truths are thereby implicated. First, if endowed by the Creator, then they may not lawfully be taken or infringed unless by one greater than the Creator. Second, the individuals must answer to the Creator for the manner in which they exercise those freedoms.
The founders recognized the individual as the basic building block of society–not groups or governments. A “right” in the Constitution is ascribed only to individual rights not to “the
people.”
The rights do not emanate from the government nor do they emanate from man himself. Two hundred years later, many fail to recognize these simple truths.
The founders, lest any be confused, clarified the role of government—“to secure these rights.” The Declaration of Independence states, “That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”
The hierarchy recognized, is as follows: The Creator, Men and in service to Men, a government to preserve and protect the rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
The best government is a government if controlled by those who are your adversary or opposites will not infringe upon your rights, the right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Of necessity, that government is a small government. Governments use force to take, compel and constrain. We call that taxes, laws and a police force. The less force the greater the individual freedom and prosperity. Freedom works.
Both Republicans and Democrats compete to gain control of a Government with an unquenchable desire for more power to dictate their own blend of policy: the Democratic liberal to expand their social engineering and Government can do it better fiction, and the
country-club Republican’s to provide protections and special perks for big business and the country club.
